Sunday Showcase || The Timba Trend ||

This week, we are featuring The Timba Trend. Their dipped hex stool is a signature piece and one of my favourites. The Timba Trend are a handmade timber decor and furniture business located on the Central Coast of NSW. They love to add the natural element of timber into the home with a pop of colour and a fun original design. The Timba Trend's signature style is implementing the hexagon shape into furniture design. Their fun and quirky pieces add personality and style to any space. Mostly specialising in little people's interiors, The Timba Trend's pieces are versatile enough to be used throughout the whole home. Connie tells us a bit more about the business.

A bit of background

I'm a 26 year old mother to 1 boy (aged 4) and another due in July. I've always been passionate about interiors, styling and décor. It is one thing that has always been able to get my attention. Before The Timba Trend, I worked in event styling, running my own business styling candy buffets for all events. I've lived on the Central Coast since I was 12 years old, previously being raised in a small country town. The man of my dreams, my husband - stole my heart in 2006 and we've been together ever since. We both have a passion for handmade products.

The Timba Trend Family

What inspired you to start your business?

We bought our first home in July 2014 and crazily began renovations as soon as the keys were in our hands. in 12 weeks, we completely transformed our 44 year old home into a modern house - inside and out. We used many elements of timber in our renovations and used décor for a pop of colour. I wanted specific pieces built that I couldn't find in the shops, so my husband got out his tools and built them. He then said to me, "You'd be able to sell these"... And so it began! The Timba Trend was born.

What inspires your designs?

We are inspired by originality. Being original is the key ingredient to standing out from the crowd and marking your brand. I love geometric designs, which is why most of our pieces are designed around the hexagon shape. Also, with my love of décor and interiors, I know how special it is to create a gorgeous space for your children to sleep and play in. Which has brought us our childrens products.

What does the future hold?

Many more fun collections and designs to add to our range. I've always envisioned myself running my own homewares boutique store, stocking on trend and original pieces by local and well known brands. I never thought it would ever be stocking our own designs but since The Timba Trend, I can certainly see a boutique store opening up with myself as the owner; not only stocking my own pieces but many other brands as well. To turn The Timba Trend into a leading brand and a full time gig to support our family is definitely a part of our business plan.
